The Southern Living Idea House is an annual showcase of the latest trends in home design, architecture, and craftsmanship. Featured in the widely respected Southern Living magazine, this home draws attention from design enthusiasts and industry professionals nationwide.
Located on a rural stretch of the South Carolina shore, this year’s idea home finds itself on a 2,000-acre parcel situated on 20 miles of pristine coastline. Heirloom was honored to join a team of South Carolina-based talents to provide the main staircase, a custom hood, and exterior railing.
Our freestanding white oak staircase serves as a focal point of the home. Accompanied by an installation of Murmurations sculpted by Maine artist Christina Watka and situated against massive two-story windows, the staircase sweeps through this corner of the home and boats a beautiful view of the neighborhood’s farm across the street.
The backyard marsh scene and surrounding natural scenery commands attention, so the interior – designed by Allison Elebash Interior Design – is simple. While complex to create due to its curvature, the custom plaster range hood is subtle enough to seemingly melt into the architecture of the home.
On the exterior of the home, you’ll find custom iron railings surrounding the outdoor living room and porches.
