Titled “The Fabric of Hope,” the Brown Street Archways aren’t just a natural navigation landmark for locals and visitors alike—they’re a part of the city’s rich history. A mixture of steel, aluminum and plaster, the gates have won awards from NOMMA and have become iconic to downtown Greenville.
Woven throughout the artistry of this custom design, you’ll see smokestack stanchions that recall Greenville’s storied past as a textile manufacturer. The cascading vines represent that industry’s eventual decline, yet give way to new life emerging in unexpected places—and ribbons of hope now rise where smoke once did.
